Winzip is file utility program that allows you to reduce the size of a file on your computer either for storage or for sending via email or for uploading. It is a convenient method of sharing files either for personal or business use.
Commonly, the word 'zipped' or 'zip' is used to descibe a file or files which have been compressed or 'packed' with Winzip.
Here are a few helpful ways in which Winzip can be utilised.
WinZip up a group of photographs
Let's assume you want to send several digital photos of your weekend to your friends.
- Locate the files you want to 'zip'.
- Holding your right-mouse button down click on a space outside the photos and drag over them to select them. They should be dark blue to show they are selected.

- Right-click your mouse and select Winzip / Add to Zip File. See diagram below:
- From the Add menu insert a file name of your choice.
- Now click on Add.
- The files will now be added to the zip file - close it down.
From within the folder where you selected your files you will see your zip file.
Send this file to your friends!
